SCHULTZ, Mr. Victor George, 91, a resident of Honoraville, died December 10, 2013. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. from Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Sunrise Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Hogwood, Rev. Bruce Coker and Rev. Justin Schultz officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 10 til 11 am. He is survived by his wife Mary R. Schultz, Honoraville; daughter, Jean Richardson, Luverne; son, Richard Rick Schultz, King Mountain, NC; brother, Max Schultz Greenville. 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and  2 great great grandchildren.


Jewel Newton Salter

SALTER, Jewel Newton, 94, a residence of Greenville, died Friday, December 6, 2013. Funeral services will be held Monday December 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. from Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Herbert Brown officiating and Harrison Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery. Survivors include  several nieces and nephew and other relatives. Visitation will be at Harrison Funeral Home from 10 til 11 a.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ebenezer East Baptist Church.


Carl Skipper

SKIPPER, Carl, 70, a resident of Greenville died Sunday, Nov 24, 2013. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at 10 AM from the Chapel of Harrison Funeral Home at  with Rev. Harl Skipper and Rev. Nathan Skipper officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6 til 8 PM. He is survived by his brother Rev. Harl Skipper, Scottsboro, Al., Sister, Valeria (Bill) Stacey, Greenville. Several nieces and nephews. Mr Skipper was preceeded in death by his wife, parents and brother.


Earl Franklin Phelps

PHELPS, Earl Franklin, 90, a resident of Greenville, died Saturday November 2, 2013. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 1 PM from the Chapel of Harrison Funeral Home with Rev. Don Yancey, Rev. Wallace Newton & Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Damascus Cemetery. Visitation will be at Harrison Funeral Home Tuesday from 12 until 1 PM. Mr. Phelps was survived by his wife Bolling Phelps, Greenville, two daughters, Tricia Phelps, Atlanta, Sandy (Roger) Black, Honoraville. Two grandchildren, Heath Black & Chad (Shea) Black. Three great grandchildren. Three sisters, Belle Graydon, Montgomery, Rebecca (Buck) Mobley, Mobile, Lillian Bell, Chipley, Fl. Joseph E. McGinty, Sr.

McGINTY, Joseph E., Sr., 66, a resident of Honoraville, died October 25, 2013. Services honoring Mr. McGinty will be held Tuesday at 1PM at the First Assembly of God. He is survived by one daughter, Susan McGinty Peroni, Greenville, two sons, Allen & Joseph McGinty, both of Prattville, sister, Tina King, North Carolina, brother, Steve McGinty, Georgia. 9 grandchildren & several great grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Heart Assn.


Rev. William Lewis Burns

BURNS, Rev. William Lewis, 75, a resident of Honoraville died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013. Funeral services will held Saturday, Oct.26, 2013 at 1 PM at Union Baptist Church in Honoraville with Harrison Funeral Home directing. Rev.Burns was pastor at Union Baptist Church for nearly 17 years. Interment will follow at Damascus Cemetery. Rev. Burns was survived by his wife Jeanette P. Burns, Honoraville, Daughter, Veronica (Jeff) Nettles, Excel, Al, son Jeff (Lynn) Burns, Honoraville and 4 grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday night from 6 until 8 PM. Rev. Burns will lie in state at church one hour prior to services Saturday. 


Raymond Carl Bevans

BEVANS, Raymond Carl, 58, a resident of Greenville, died October 5, 2013. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Bevans is survived by his wife, Katie Bevans, Greenville, sister, Ruth Talsma, Benton Harbor, Mi, uncle, Carl L.(Sarah), Wahlen, Kingly Park, Ill, sister-in-law, Carole (Ted) Rehak, Short Hills, NJ, 3 nephews. Services to be announced at a later time.


Charles David Braden

BRADEN, Charles David, 75, of Sutton Alaska died at his Greenville home October 4, 2013. David was born June 21,1937 to parents Aaron Elton & Inez Burkett Braden who preceeded him in death. He was also preceeded in death by brothers Aaron Elton, Jr.,& Arthur Eugene Braden, nieces, Pamela Jeanine Smith Mootz and Sadie Elizabeth Clontz. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Braden (Ernest) Smith, nieces Linda Gail (Robert) Clontz, Idaho, Kelly Elizabeth, Greenville, great nieces Ashley Elizabeth Nichols, Jennifer Clontz & Abigail Stinson. Great nephews, Alexzander Len Rossi, Aaron Stinson & Nadhan Isaac Nichols.  David will be returned to his home in Alaska of the past 44 years. Friends & neighbors will hold a celebration of a life well lived at his cabin. He will be returned to the top of his beloved "Blueberry Mountain"overlooking the Mantanuska Glacier and Matanusaka River Mat-Su Valley. Farewll David. May the winds always be at your back as journey through eternity. We love and miss you.


Melvina Sexton

SEXTON, Melvina, 93, a resident of LaPine, died September 26, 2013. Graveside services will be held Saturday September 28, 2013 at 2PM at Cool Spring Cemetery with Elder Steven Bates officiating and Harrison Funeral Home directing. OWENS, Glen David, 86, a resident of Greenville, died August 13, 2013. Survivers include his wife Mazelle Layton Owens, Greenville, daughter, Glenda Owens Landrum, Meredian, MS., son, Benjamin Owens, Greenville, Al., brother, Douglas Owens, Tuscaloosa. 3 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren.Mr. Owens was preceeded in death by his son Danny Owens. He was also a veteran of the US Army in World War II.


 

Jesse King Strickland

 

STRICKLAND, Jesse King, 80, a resident of Ft. Deposit died Wednesday, May 29, 2013. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 3PM at Myrtlewood Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Carlson officiating and Harrison Funeral Home directing.

 

Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife Louise Strickland, four sons, Rick, Michael, David Strickland, all of Ft. Deposit & Terry Strickland, Killeen, Tx. Brothers Robert Strickland, Montgomery, John Strickland, Georgia, Roy Strickland, Millbrook. Sister, Lucille Boutwell, Braggs. Seven grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren.

Casual attire for the services has been requested. Following the services the family will receive friends and family at the Fort Deposit Methodist Church.


Robert Lyn Mills

MILLS, Robert Lyn, 57, a resident of Greenville died Sunday, May 26, 2013. Services will be held Saturday June 1, 2013 at 2 PM at the Braden cabin on Morgan Road. Minister Larry Gaston officiating.

Mr. Mills was survived by his wife, Kathy Mills, Greenville, mother, Verla Mae Mills, Greenville, sons Michael Mills, Greenville, Calvin (Joe) Pouncey, Pensacola, Steve Mills, Tyler, Al., daughter, Mikena Boutwell, Forest Home, brothers, Tracey & Clyde Mills, Greenville, sisters, Anita Rice, Montgomery, Jennifer Taylor, Crestview. 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his father Robert F. Mills and brother Hiram Mills.

Sherry Cole Luckie

LUCKIE, Sherry Cole, 61, a resident  of Forest Home, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.

She was preceeded in death by her father, Jerry K. Cole. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, James Travis Luckie, Forest Home, her mother Christine Green Cole, Eclectic,Al., one daughter, Christy Luckie Cooper (Dale), Eclectic, Al., one granddaughter, Dale Lynn Cooper,Two double first cousins, Johnny Cole (Janice), Bobby Cole (Pat), Greenville. Brothers-in-law, Robert Luckie (Jean), Calvin Luckie (Linda). Sisters-in-law, Georgia Ann Horney,, Sara Brown, Jane Burkett (Gwin), Bonnie Tibbs (Ed), Jewell Conway (Max), Barbara Luckie.

She is loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held at Harrison Funeral Home on Thursday night from 6-8 P.M. Services will be held at Harrison Funeral Home, Greenville, AL, on Friday at 3 P.M. Harrison Funeral Home Directing. Internment will follow at Forest Home Cemetery with Mike Philips and Allen Stephenson officiating. She was a member of Forest Home Baptist Church and the Greenville High School Class of 1969.


Mary Frances Davis

DAVIS, Mary Frances, 91, a resident of Ft. Deposit died Saturday, April 6, 2013. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Flatwoods Church of Christ Cemetery with Ministers Greg Wilkes and Tim Croley officiating and Harrison Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be in the church from 1 til 2 PM.

Survivors include 2 granddaughters, Darlene Davis, Greenville and Tara Lowe, Deatsville, 1 sister, Annette Tillery, Montgomery, 1 great granddaughter, Hope Gibson, Greenville as well as 9 other great grandchildren. Mrs. Davis was preceeded in death by her  husband, Henry Wesley Davis, parents, Charles Henry Duncan and Beulah Estelle Cleghorn Davis, daughter, Sylvia Faye McGough and grandson, Donald Middleton. Interment will follow in Berea Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing. A visitation will be held from 9 am until 11 am service time. Mrs. Hargrove was survived by three sons, Eulon D. Hargrove, San Antonio, Tx., Willie H. Hargrove, Montgomery, Al., Charles R. Hargrove, Sunnyvale, Ca., one brother, Charles R. Brown, Blaine, Tn., 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mrs. Hargrove was preceded in death her husband Eulon F. Hargrove.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband: Johnny W. Jones, Sister: Ila Ruth Callins & Brothers: Donald and John Edwards.

She was born in Butler County and was a member of Awin Baptist Church.


Bernice Clyde Owens

OWENS, Bernice Clyde, 88, a resident of Graceville, Florida died Wednesday February 13, 2013. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 16, 2013 at 2 PM at Faith Assembly of God, Graceville, FL with Rev. Charles Carlton, Rev. Glenn Tate and Rev. Joel Snell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home of Greenville, AL directing. A Visitation will be held from 1 PM until 2 PM Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Owens is survived by her daughters, Linda (Rex) Wilson, Graceville, FL., Peggy (Felter) Alderman, Graceville, FL., Sherry (Larry) Butler, Slocomb, AL., Kay (Glen) Tate, Hartford, AL., Kim (Buddy) Berry, Graceville, FL. and sons, Danny (Brenda) Snell, Graceville, FL., Joel (Retha) Snell, Greenville, AL.

Eloise Nichols Eddins

 

EDDINS, Eloise Nichols, age 66, born June 2, 1946 died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at her residence in Milton FL. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 from the Chapel of Harrison Funeral Home, Greenville, AL at 2 PM with Pastor Gordon Dillashaw & Pastor Kermet Groat officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing. A visitation will beheld from 12 noon until 2 PM at the funeral home.

 

Mrs.Eddins was a strong loving wife, mother & Grandmother. Her short life ended due to the battle of cancer. Through all the pain and suffering she still had the grace of God to give her strength to enjoy what she loved most. Camping, fishing, and spending time with family. Always smiling as she made the best of everything.

 

Mrs. Eddins is survived by here husband of 50 years: Albert Eddins, Milton FL.

Daughter: Janet (Billy, Sr.  McCormick.

Grandson: Billy (Courtney) McCormick

She is survived by her husband John Rodrigue, Honoraville, mother, Gayle Knighten, Greenville, sisters, Tonya (Ronnie) DeRamus, Prattville, Becky (Dave) Mosley, LaPine, brother, Lee (Adrian) Knighten, Highland Home. Nieces and nephews, Rebecca Knighten, Buddy Knighten, Rachel Jones, Joshua Jones, Katie DeRamus and McKenzie Mosly.


Doris A. Grant

GRANT, Mrs. Doris A., 80, a resident of Honoraville, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 PM at Spring Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Dean and Rev. Alan Winn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening at Harrison Funeral Home from 6 til 8 PM. Mrs. Grant will lie in state thirty minutes prior to services.

She is survived by her husband, Muryle Grant, Honoraville, sons: Kyle Grant, Three Rivers, Mi,Kevin Grant, Highland Home, AL; sisters: Norma Jerke, Kalamazoo, MI, Alice Heib, Deluth, MN; brother: Alan Aman, London, KY. Several other friends and relatives.



Sherry Ann Gonsalves

GONSALVES, Sherry Ann, 54, a resident of Greenville, died January 4, 2013. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 2 PM from the chapel of Harrison Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery. Visitation will preceed services from 1 until 2 PM Sunday. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Ward of Greenville, Three sisters, Kathy Fox, Dothan, Barbara Bell, Honoraville, Linda Watson, Greenville. Three stepchildren, several nieces and nephews.


Newton E. Givens

GIVENS, Newton E. "Rusty", 63 a resident of Highland Home died Dec. 30, 2012. Funeral services will be held Wednesday Jan. 2, 2013 at 11 a.m.  at Harrison Funeral Home.  Mr. Givens is survived by three children Mack, Terri and Chris Givens, All of Luverne. Two brothers, Larry Givens, LaPine and Bill Givens, Highland Home. Sister, Pat Givens, LaPine. Four grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Assn.

Delano Drake Gillian

GILLIAN, Delano Drake, age 102, a resident of Greenville, AL., died December, 18, 2012. She was born to Colburn and Mary Drake of Dozier, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Hubert L. (Pug) Gillian. She attended Hair dresser school in Jacksonville, FL. in 1937. Mrs. Gillian purchased The Vanity Beauty Salon in 1945 and worked there until the age of 94. She also enjoyed gardening & needle work.

Funeral services will be held Saturday December 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at  First Baptist Church with Doctor Johnny Padalino & Reverend Jerry Wilkerson officiating. Interment will follow in Veasey Cemetery in Crenshaw County, with Harrison Funeral Home of Greenville, AL. directing. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:15 until 11 a.m. Saturday morning.

Survivors include:

3 - Sisters: Edith Grumbine, Union Bridge, Maryland. Collyer Grider, Pensacola, FL. & Ollie Jo Meeks, Montgomery, AL.
