Alvin Dewey "A.D." Banks, age 96, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. A.D. was born February 1, 1922 in Newsome, Texas to Alvin A. Banks and Pinkie Lee Graves.
A.D. worked at McCullough Tools, Mrs. Baird's Bread, and built houses. A.D. worked in all four precincts in Titus county retiring from the fields department at age 85. He was a United States Army veteran. A.D. was a member of the David Elliott Masonic Lodge #674. He served as the past president of the Mt. Vernon and Mt. Pleasant Rodeo Associations. A.D. volunteered as Deputy Sheriff in Franklin County. He was a Baptist by faith.
A.D. was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife Ava Banks of Omaha; two stepdaughters and son-in-law, JoAnn and Jimmy Smith of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Peggy Chappell of Carthage, Texas; six grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and numerous, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with Kerry Adamek officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Springs Cemetery in Leesburg, Texas.
