On Sunday, October 22, 2023, James Alan "Vine" Ragland, age 62, of Naples, Texas, passed away surrounded by his children.  Vine was born January 10, 1961 to Glen Ragland and Wanda Jacobs Ragland.

Vine was a member of the Rocky Branch Church of Christ.  He spent many years working as a dairy farmer, cattle hand, and rancher.  For the past several years, he was a dedicated and essential part of Rocky Branch Grocery's success.  Spending his mornings cooking breakfast, carrying out pranks, and playing his music, he was a face you could always count on seeing.  He had a love for cattle and horses, watching Lonesome Dove and the Rocky movies, and he spent many hours in his shop wood-working.  An avid poet, reader, and seeker of knowledge, he loved the comfort of always learning something new.  Spending any free time he had surrounded by his children and grandchildren whom he showered with love was always the best part of his day.

Vine was preceded in death by his wife or 39 years, Jan Ragland; his parents; one brother, Bo Ragland; grandparents, Marshall and Beulah Ragland and Omer and Paralee Jacobs; one uncle, Jimmie Jacobs; and three aunts, Lura Ann Ellis, Virginia Mullins, and Mary Minton.

Survivors include two daughters and one son, Jo Ragland and Chad Suttles of Naples, Chase Ragland of Naples, and Shelby Ragland and Michael Neal of Naples; three grandchildren, Cooper Suttles, Charli Suttles, and Luca Neal; father-in-law and mother-in-law, J Roy and Nita Beth Traylor of Naples; two sisters-in-law, Darla Ragland of Naples and Jyl Wood and husband Bryan of Gilmer, Texas; one nephew and three nieces, Matt and Dee Ragland of Ashdown, Arkansas, Jessica Ragland of Naples, Jordan Wood of Naples, and McKenna Wood of Rowlett, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2023 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Rocky Branch Church of Christ with Br. John Hooton officiating.  Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery.
