Berl
Munn
Jul 30, 1932 — Apr 15, 2026
Omaha
Berl Onnes Munn was born on July 30, 1932, in Franklin County, Texas to James Preston Munn and Thelma Oletha Hayes Munn and passed from this life at 93 on April 15, 2026, in Omaha, Texas. Berl is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his sister, Charlene Acker, and two brothers, Hulen and Dean Munn.
Berl married the love of his life, Nancy Rebecca Tucker, on March 7, 1952, in Omaha. They were married for 74 years and blessed with 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. He served in the US Army before going to work for Lone Star Steel Company where he was employed for over 38 years. He served on the Pewitt CISD school board and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where he was a deacon.
Berl learned the value of hard work early in life, growing up on his family's 90-acre farm with only two mules to help carry the load. From those humble beginnings, he developed a lifelong love of gardening and a deep respect for the land, always serving as a faithful steward of what he was given.
Known by many names throughout his life, he became "Big Daddy" in 1982—a title that would come to define his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment: his family. Though a man of few words, Berl expressed his love through quiet support, steady presence, and tireless dedication to those he cared for.
His life was rooted in hard work, patience, and the simple joy of nurturing growth—both in his garden and in his family. Big Daddy spent a lifetime cultivating friendships, generously sharing the fruits of his labor, and passing down wisdom that will live on for generations to come.
Berl is survived by his children, Ken and wife Gail Munn of Omaha , Sandy Munn Davis of Keller, Keith and wife Laura Munn of Omaha; nine grandchildren, Kristopher and wife Ashley Munn of Robinson, Katie and husband Kenneth Johnson of Krum, Emily Munn of Texarkana, Kara Davis of Omaha, Kyle and wife Shannon Munn of Cape Cod, MA, Amanda and husband Josh Gillen of Erath, LA, Lee and wife Bridgett Munn of Keller, John and wife Katie Davis of Ft. Worth, and Colin and wife Whitney Davis of Tyler; twenty great-grandchildren, Kason, Karter, Ava, Libbie, Kherington, Hudson, Olivia, Owen, Deacon, Bristol, Baylor, Gunner, Kobie, Kace, River, Emersyn, Poppy, Gracie, Tucker, and Hattie; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2026, at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Omaha Cemetery in Omaha with Rev. Keith Lauter officiating.
The family would like to thank Maria Melendez, Dr. Griffin, Chambers Hospice.
