Obituary

Betty Jo Nowlin, age 85, of Omaha, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Nowlin was born on February 9, 1930, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, to Robert Hickman and Mildred Thompson Hickman.

Mrs. Nowlin worked in many different careers, but was most recently a nursing home administrator. She was a member of the Episcopalian church. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved gardening and working in her yard. Although she never knew how to swim, Betty Jo loved to water ski. She also loved sitting on her screened-in-porch and watching the birds. She loved playing with her great-grandchildren and teaching them to fish.

Mrs. Nowlin was preceded in death by three husbands, Embrey Privitt, John Tanner, and Carl Nowlin; one son, Carl Privitt; and two sisters, Gwen and Bobbie.

She is survived by one son and daughter, Mike and Linda Privitt of Omaha; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jim Burris of Bryans Mill; six grandchildren, Christopher Privitt, Timothy Privitt, James Privitt, Carl Embrey Privitt, III, Kristen Ackerman, and Robert Privitt; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Springhill Cemetery in Naples, with Rev. Bryan Peck officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Center.
