Betty Sue Powell, age 82, of Naples, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023 in Hughes Springs, Texas. Betty was born on October 16, 1940, in Marietta, Texas, to Earl William Brooks and Letha Odelia Tidwell Brooks.

Betty was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Seventh Day Adventist Church of Mt. Pleasant, Texas where she taught Sabbath School for many years. She was a registered nurse until the 1970s and then was a homemaker. Betty enjoyed telling stories to children at church and attending church socials. She also enjoyed playing piano, listening to music, watching fox news, and watching hallmark movies. Her other hobbies included sewing, cooking, baking, hiking, camping, and playing rook.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Powell; her parents; and one sister Mildred Roach.

Survivors include one daughter, Robin Powell of Naples; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Dean Powell, II and Sharon Powell of Naples; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Leon Brooks of Blackwell, Texas, and Ray and Ivana Brooks of Jersey Village, Texas; one sister, Faye Croy and Phil Sanders of Lubbock, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2023 at New Hope Seventh Day Adventist Church in Marietta, Texas with Pastor Edwin Ledezma and Pastor Gene Clapp officiating. Interment will follow at Cornett Cemetery in Naples, Texas.
