Betty Carol Powell, age 75, of Atlanta, Texas, passed away Friday, May 8, 2020 in Atlanta.  Betty was born December 24, 1944 in Atlanta, Texas.

Betty was a member at Laws Chapel United Methodist Church.  She was a retired dispatcher, having worked for Cass County Sheriff's Office, Atlanta Police Department, and Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative.  Betty was a member of the Atlanta Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing and taking care of her yard.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dexter Powell; her parents, Donald Carl Lanier and Vera Myrtle Dell Lanier; one daughter, Ginger Stanton; one granddaughter, Gabrielle "Gabbie" Stanton; and one brother-in-law, Mike Dupree.

Survivors include one sister, Donna Dupree of Atlanta, Texas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Treaca and Jim Huston of Atlanta, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Trevelyn and Nelda Powell of Gilmer, Texas; one great-granddaughter, Cadence Stanton of Atlanta, Texas; special friends, Lori, James and Weston Huett of Atlanta, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Laws Chapel Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 102, Atlanta, TX 75551.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2020 at Laws Chapel Methodist Church in Atlanta, Texas.  In light of the current regulations, social distancing will be enforced.
