William Benton "Bill" Thompson, Jr., age 91, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023 at his home. Bill was born June 28, 1931, in Winnsboro, Texas, to William Benton Thompson, Sr. and Julia Marie Futral Thompson.

Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church of Omaha. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. Bill taught Middle School for many of years at Dallas ISD and Atlanta ISD.  Upon retirement, Bill enjoyed woodworking and helping his wife, Idora, with crafts.  He kept an impeccable yard and also enjoyed gardening.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Idora Thompson; his parents; one son, Rick Thompson; one sister; Verna Grace Thompson; and one nephew, John Mark Thompson.

Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Julia Thompson of Columbia, Louisiana; two brothers and sisters-in-law; John and Wanda Thompson of Mesquite, Texas and Bob and Theresa Thompson of Sunnyvale, Texas; one grandson, Daniel Thompson of Shreveport, Louisiana; several nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Omaha in Omaha, Texas, with Rev. Keith Lauter officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bryans Mill, Texas. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Omaha Building Fund.
