Billy H. Murphy, Sr., age 86, of Marietta, Texas, passed away on January 25, 2021 at his home.  He was born February 15, 1934 in Cass County.

Billy married the love of his life, Mary Joyce, on August 23, 1956, in Hughes Springs, Texas.  He worked for D&Z Ammunition Plant for over 34 years.  After retirement, Billy could be found fishing, playing dominoes, or drinking coffee with his buddies.  One of his greatest joys was being a Papaw and spending time with his grandchildren.  Billy was a member at Oak Ridge Baptist Church since 1962.  He also dedicated ten years to the Marietta Volunteer Fire Department as fire chief.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Lilly Murphy; two sisters, Patricia McKinney and Esther Robison; and one brother, Bobby Murphy.

Billy is survived by his wife, Mary Joyce Murphy; children, Debbie (Bo) Harris, Rita (Michael) Bennett, Joy (Alan) Carnation, Becky (Teddy) Lawings, Bill (Cheryl) Murphy, and Pattie (Larry) Wade; grandchildren, Chris, Stephanie, Brian, Shelley, Tara, Hillary, Tammie, Justin, Jace, McKinsy, Cody, Chandler, Courtney, Celsey, and Taylor; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta with Dr. Chas Carlisle officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marietta.
