Edward Glen (Bo) Collins, Sr.

November 25, 1930 - January 30, 2026

Edward Glen (Bo) Collins was born on November 25, 1930, in Omaha, Texas.  He passed away peacefully at his home in Omaha, Texas, on January 30, 2026, at the age of 95.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Era Lou Collins, by his parents, Taft and Lillie Collins, and by his sisters, Jo Nelson, Elizabeth Satterfield, and Fae Roach. He is survived by his son Glen Collins, Jr. of Omaha, by his daughter, Sally Collins Cimics and son-in-law Donald Cimics of Austin, and by his grandchildren Stuart Collins of Hooks, Lucy Bragg and husband Rusty Bragg of Grand Prairie, Elizabeth Cimics of San Marcos, and Benjamin Cimics of Austin, and by his great-grandchildren Daxton and Arlo Bragg of Grand Prairie.

Bo graduated from Omaha High School in 1948 and played basketball for the Omaha Indians through junior high and high school.  He played most sports, including tennis, and set some records in track for Omaha High. He attended and played basketball for McMurry College, Lamar College, and East Texas State University.  After college, he married Era Lou, and later they moved to California when he began serving in the Marines during the Korean War.  After his discharge from the military, he eventually began his own business, Collins Dimension Mill, which he ran until he retired.

In his younger years, he helped with the Boy Scouts in Omaha and coached little league baseball. Until just a few years ago, he could be found attending all Pewitt basketball games and most of the football games.  He loved watching sports, especially basketball, and usually attended the state basketball championships in Austin each year.  He also loved fishing and cooking the fish he caught.  Bo also always had a large garden and enjoyed growing various vegetables.  He passed on his love of sports, gardening, and fishing to his children and grandchildren.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Omaha.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Omaha, Texas, with the Rev. Keith Lauter officiating.  Interment will follow at the Omaha Cemetery in Omaha.
