Bobbie Franklin, 93, passed away peacefully on December 18 at Buckner Westminster Place in Longview, Texas. She had been a resident there for seven years. She formerly lived for many decades in Naples, Texas and was married 49 years to Lee Roy Franklin, who preceded her in death. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Naples.
Born in Alabama, Bobbie travelled alone by train to Texas at age 8 after her mother died. There she was raised mostly by her five older sisters. She was preceded in death by her mother Birdie Hamilton Partridge of Sylacauga, Alabama; father, George Cepheus Partridge and stepmother Mamie Partridge of Mt Pleasant; sisters RuthTirone, Jackie Edwards, Tommie Manning, Catherine Graham, Birdie Mae Gillin; nephews Victor Manning and Matthew Edwards; and a niece Glenda Malone.
She is survived by her sons Ronald Franklin of Dallas and Arden Franklin of Los Angeles; three nieces, Sue Snow of Joshua, Marvadene Brock Eves of Austin, and Karen Gonzalez of Hooks; one nephew, Mark Edwards of Palo Alto, California; two great nieces, Michele Wesson and Cindi Caraway both of Rocky Branch; and a great nephew Kevin Wright of Rocky Branch as well as other family members.
Bobbie was treasured for her fun and happy nature. She was a dedicated bridge player and antique collector as well as a wonderful cook. She loved to travel and have new adventures. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 28, at 2:00 PM at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Bobbie's memory to the Naples Cemetery or St Jude's Children's Hospital.
