Bobby Glynn Boozer's Obituary
Bobby Glynn Boozer, 83, died in Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, February 27, 2016. He was born May 17, 1932, in Morris County, Texas, to William H. "Willie" and Marie (Kimmel) Boozer.
He moved to Ajo, Arizona with his parents in 1941 and graduated from Ajo High School in the old Curley School in 1950. In 1951 he married Nancy Louise Trumble. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1953, teaching water life-saving skills to pilots. He obtained a bachelor's degree in recreational education.
Mr. Boozer had a varied career, serving as a police officer in Flagstaff, Arizona, a business owner and entrepreneur, a high school and college sports official, and a Flagstaff public school staff member. He belonged to the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) as a member and lifetime honorary member and was a Northern Arizona AIA commissioner from 1980-1990. He retired in 1992 and ended back in Ajo. Combined with his youthful residence, he spent 30 years living in Ajo.
Mr. Boozer was affiliated with the Baptist Church.
His family remembers his love for his wife, children, and extended family as well as his love of telling jokes and laughing. He liked to ride his ATV in the Arizona desert, and showing the desert to others.
He volunteered at the Ajo District Chamber of Commerce, the Ajo Museum, and the Mine Lookout. He enjoyed talking with everyone wherever he saw them and loved going to family reunions in Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and William Boozer; by his wife, Nancy Louise (Trumble) Boozer, who died June 2, 1986; by his daughter, Donna K. Boozer, who died November 18, 2004; by his son, Paul Boozer, who died February 18, 2014; and by his sister Clara Jean (Boozer) Hoskins.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Boozer) Beal of Nashville, Tennessee, and Karen (Boozer) Johnson of Cottonwood, Arizona; by his son Mark F. Boozer of Ajo, Arizona; by his grandchildren, Bobby M. Foeller, Bryon S. Beal, John C. Foeller, Nicki L. (Beal) Cox, Bradley J. "BJ" Bowers, and Howard A. "Drew" Bowers; and by his six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Concord Cemetery in Omaha, Texas with Bro. Nolan Richey officiating.
