Clifford William "Cotton" Simpson, age 89, of Naples, Texas, passed away July 7, 2015, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Cotton was born January 23, 1926 in Shinewell, Oklahoma to William Burr Simpson and Mary Melissa McGough Simpson.

Cotton was a United States Army veteran, having served in WWII. He was self-employed all his life, working in the timber industry. In his later years, he enjoyed riding his four wheeler around his place.

Cotton was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Mary Simpson; four brothers, Sidney, Aubrey, Roy, and J.B. Simpson; two sisters, Dorothy Myrick and Maxine McFarland; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Will and Viola Guthrey; and one brother-in-law, Jesse L. Guthrey.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Simpson of Naples; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kathie Bryant of Lucedale, Mississippi and Judy and Dale Thacker of Naples; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Patsy Simpson and Sherrill and Jeanette Simpson; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Jones and Billie and Cecil McCoy; one sister-in-law, Christine Simpson; six grandchildren, Holly Bailey and husband, Travis, Dalton Riddle, David Baker and wife Heather, Ryan Baker, Caroline Thacker, and Spencer Thacker; five great-grandchildren, Kara Bailey, Macon Bailey, Lucas Bailey, Mackenzie Baker, and Payton Baker; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the funeral home. Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015, at the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Dwaine Higgins officiating.
