Danny Joe Mills, age 84, of Naples, Texas, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 in Naples.  Danny was born October 15, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to Jesse Edward Mills and Bernice Eunice Batchelor Mills.

Danny was very active in the First United Methodist Church in Naples, having served on various committees through the years.  Danny was a truck driver.  He owned and operated his own truck for 21 years and then drove for Yellow Freight.  He also drove for Top Hat Trailers.  Danny was very active in the community.  He was a past fire chief of the Naples Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the Naples Boots and Saddle Club, former mayor of Naples and past city council member.  Danny was also loved cooking for the Naples Mens' Christian Breakfast.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Mills of Naples; one son, Tony Mills; one daughter, Brenda Clark; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gaylon and Dana Mills of Doole, Texas and Doug and Judy Mills of Queen City, Texas; two stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Rhonda and Mike Brock and Jackie and Ferrell Pearson; seven grandchildren, Justin Stringer, Jamie Branson, Mandi Stock, Maegan Brock, Clint Pearson, Jessie Kimmel, and Cole Pearson; several great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Naples with Rev. Caleb Harp officiating. Interment will follow at Naples Cemetery in Naples.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church, prior to the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Naples, Heart to Heart Hospice, or the Naples Cemetery.
