David DeWayne Harrod, Sr., age 72, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024, at his home.  David was born June 12, 1952, in Naples, Texas, to David Houston Harrod and Myrtle Mable Davis Harrod.

David retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety where he served as a Texas Highway Patrol for 30 years.  He was a member of the Lone Star Bass Club and the Department of Public Safety Organization.  David loved to hunt and fish.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family.  David was known as an easy-going man who loved joking and was very quick-witted.

David was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brad Sells; one sister, Mary Hawkins; and one nephew, Kevin Hawkins.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Nelda Sue Harrod of Omaha; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David Harrod, Jr. of Austin, Texas and Paul and Chanda Harrod of Meridian, Mississippi; two granddaughters, Isabell Harrod Harrison and Blakely Harrod; two step-grandchildren, Nathan Lanier and Paige Lanier; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home, Naples, Texas.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Springhill Cemetery in Naples with Rev. Nolan Richey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord Baptist Church or Springhill Cemetery Association.
