Donald Lee Harkness, Sr., age 84, of Naples, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at his home.  Donald was born March 30, 1937, in Longview, Texas, to John Franklin Harkness and Nelda Louise Roome.

Donald was a retired log truck driver.  He was a member of Piney Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  Donald loved collecting things.  He collected model trains, locks and keys, writing pens, and toy turtles.  He also enjoyed fishing, camping, shooting pool, eating fish and shrimp, and visiting with everyone he came in contact with.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and watching all of his grandkids playing and grow.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Donald Lee "Buddy" Harkness, Jr.; and one granddaughter-in-law, Amanda Harkness.

Survivors include one son, Donald Ray "Donny" Harkness, Sr. of Naples; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Curtis Hicks of Naples; grandchildren: Donald Lee Harkness, III of Alvin, Lawanna Downey, husband Thomas of Rosharon, Donald Ray "DJ" Harkness, Jr. of Naples, John Harkness, wife Joddi of Oklahoma, Kasey Lincoln of Omaha, Amy Stephens, husband Paul of Daingerfield, Tami Joe Goen, partner Cody of Naples, Karolyn Hicks of Longview, & Annice Bowen, husband Jeffie of Sherman, 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2022 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas with Rev. C.J. Shelton officiating.
