Dwayne Wilks "Stick" Amerson, age 83, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 at his home. Dwayne was born May 5, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to Howard Henry Amerson and Mary Elizabeth Cannon Amerson.
Dwayne was a United States Air Force veteran. He was a member at the First United Methodist Church in Naples, Texas. Dwayne retired from Red River Army Depot where he worked as a truck driver. He was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America. Dwayne enjoyed gardening, making knives, rope crafts, hunting, and fishing. In his younger years, Dwayne rode bulls and he was a walking rodeo encyclopedia.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Amy Cobb; two brothers, James Amerson and Gaylon Amerson; three sisters, Bettye Matthews, Mary Ruth Powell, and an infant sister.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Sherry Amerson of Omaha; one brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Ann Amerson; one sister, Jeanette Peek; eight grandchildren, Jennifer McEntire and husband Chris, Blake Amerson and wife Nicole, Taylor Amerson and wife Nikki, Nicole Hawkins and husband Rex, Nina Cobb and husband Clint Adams, Cilla McCollum and husband Mitchell, Hope Cobb, and Crystal Hoeveler and husband Andrew; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 at Bar Nun Cowboy Ministries with Bro. Dwaine Higgins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bridges Chapel Cemetery Association.
