Dwayne
Mccord
Jun 28, 1957 — May 11, 2026
Marietta
Ernest Dwayne McCord, age 68, of Marietta, Texas, went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2026. He was born on June 28,1957, to Ernest and Juanita McCord. He worked for Lone Star Steel and retired from Cass County Precinct #2 after many years of hard work and dedication.
Dwayne's entire world was made complete on March 15, 1995, when his daughter Lacey was born. That little blonde-haired, blue-eyed baby wrapped him around her finger from the very beginning, and she never let go. He never believed anyone would be good enough for his favorite girl, but when she married Alex, he gained a son.
Because Dwayne loved many people, many people loved him. He spent his days traveling the backroads of Marietta, checking roads, hayfields, cows, and most importantly, checking on friends and family. If someone needed a helping hand, Dwayne was usually the first one to offer it. He was the unofficial historian of Marietta and could always be counted on to tell a story to anyone willing to listen. Dwayne found joy in the simple things. He loved to fish and was perfectly content whether he caught anything or not. For him, it wasn't really about the fish. It was about spending time outdoors in the place he loved so much.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, David McCord; and many other precious family members.
He leaves behind his daughter, Lacey Nunn, and son-in-law, Alex; his grandsons, Kolter and Ryker, who brought him endless joy; his nephew, Matthew McCord; and his cousin, Kirby McCord, who was more of a brother than a cousin. Along with many family members, Dwayne leaves behind countless friends and neighbors whose lives are better because they knew him.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marietta with Dr. Chas Carlisle officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Ridge Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 165, Marietta, TX 75566.
