Theta Ellen Abston, age 90, of Bryans Mill, Texas, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023 in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Ellen was born February 24, 1933, in Oakley, Michigan, to Floyd B. Ivester, Sr. and Theta Blanche Coy Ivester.

Ellen was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Bryans Mill. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years.  Ellen was a founding member of the Ladies of Bryans Mill and Friends and was very active in all things Bryans Mill.  She enjoyed arts and crafts and had a flower shop in her house for several years.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Windell Abston; her parents; and one brother, Floyd Ivester, Jr.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bobby and Nancy Abston of Naples, Texas and Ronnie Abston of Pottsboro, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Theta and Sammy Hicks of Naples; one brother, Earl Ivester of Ocala, Florida; one sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Paul Posh of Southgate, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Abston, Crystal Hopson and husband Raymond, Lara Pate and husband Adam, Jeffry Abston and wife Candice, Amie Abston, Brian Abston, Duane Hicks and wife Lacy, and Jesse Hicks and wife Amanda; nineteen great grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Bryans Mill, Texas with Rev. Dominic Crescimanno officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bryans Mill. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral.
