Elmer Roy Smith, age 78, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at his home.  Elmer was born July 2, 1941 in Goodrich, Texas to Archie Vernon Smith and Louie Mae Taylor Smith.

Elmer was a retired Meat Market Manager.   He was a hard worker.  When not working, Elmer enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He especially enjoyed going to the casino and playing slots and vacationing at the coast.  Elmer loved being around people and brightening someone's day.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arbilee Smith, P.D. Smith, and Harold Smith; and one sister, Christine Williams.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Cindy Smith, of Omaha; one son and daughter-in-law, Steven Smith and Kathy Miller of Leesburg, Texas; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Terri and Larry Cantrell of Ben Wheeler, Texas, Traci and Rex Cantrell of Naples, Texas, and Stephanie Smith of Omaha; one brother-in-law, Jack H. Williams; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; special friends, Fred and Jessie Lee Holcomb and Brandon Guest; his faithful sidekick, Sunshine; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special "Thank you" to the nurses from Dierksen Hospice, Paige and Tamera, for the care for Mr. Smith.
