Era Lou Collins

December 29, 1930 - October 6, 2025

Era Lou Collins was born on December 29, 1930 in Marietta, Texas.  She passed away peacefully at her home in Omaha, Texas on October 6, 2025 at the age of 94.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Breazeale. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, E. G. (Bo) Collins.  She is also survived by her son Glen Collins, Jr. of Omaha, her daughter, Sally Collins Cimics and son-in-law Donald Cimics of Austin, and grandchildren Stuart Collins of Hooks, Lucy Bragg and husband Rusty Bragg of Grand Prairie, Elizabeth Cimics of San Marcos, and Benjamin Cimics of Austin, and great-grandchildren Daxton and Arlo Bragg of Grand Prairie.

Era Lou graduated from Hughes Springs High School as the valedictorian in 1948 and from East Texas State University in 1951.  She held a teaching certificate and taught school for a number of years.  Later in life, she became an artist and won numerous awards for her paintings.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Omaha where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years and was one of the founders of the Berean Sunday School Class.  She enjoyed painting and drawing, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family.  She was an avid reader and also enjoyed studying theology.  She met the love of her life, Bo Collins, at East Texas State University, and they married after graduation.  They lived in California and various parts of Texas before settling in Omaha where they raised their two children.  She lived a long and full life and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Omaha, Texas, with Rev. Keith Lauter officiating. Interment will follow at Omaha Cemetery in Omaha.
