Obituary

Ernest Weldon McCord, age 84, of Marietta, Texas, passed away Monday, September 21, 2015, in a Texarkana, Texas hospital. Ernest was born December 8, 1930, in Marietta, Texas, to Ernest Lee and Edna Hancock McCord.

Ernest retired from Lone Star Steel, where he was an inspector. He was also a lifelong rancher. He was a member at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jimmy McCord; and four brothers, Don McCord, Travis McCord, Lowell McCord, and Roy McCord.

Surviving family members include his wife of 63 years, Juanita McCord of Marietta; two sons, David McCord of Marietta, and Dwayne McCord of Marietta; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Betty McCord of Marietta, and Gaynor and Betty McCord of Quitman, Texas; two grandchildren, Matthew McCord and wife Marla, and Lacey McCord and fiancé Dalton Applewhite; four great-granddaughters, Lacy, Lauren, Linzy, and Chloe; three great-great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Oakridge Cemetery in Marietta, Texas, with Rev. Chas Carlisle officiating.
