Edward Eugene Evans, age 75, of Marietta, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020 at his home. Eugene was born June 16, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri to Samuel Edward Evans and Elsie Edna Colbert Evans.

Eugene was a Baptist by faith.  He retired from Lone Star Steel where he worked in the Mechanical Tubing division.  He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union.  Eugene loved tending to his yard and spending time with his family.  Eugene was a United States Army veteran, having served two tours in Vietnam.  He was a prisoner of war, and he was also a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient.

Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Sue "Sue Bell" Evans in 2017; his parents; one brother, Ricky Evans; and one sister, Connie Morris.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Becky and Brad Roach of Hughes Springs, Texas; and Ann Waldon of Daingerfield, Texas; two sons, Wayne Hogue of Bryans Mill, Texas and Thomas Hogue of Ore City, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Neil and Jana Evans of Benton, Arkansas; three sisters, Vickie Cunningham of Benton; Brenda Kay Renno of Whelan California, and Karen McAuthur of Houston, Texas; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home, Naples, Texas.
