Funeral services for Mr. William Floyd Charlton, 88, of Omaha, Texas, will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Omaha, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas.
Mr. Charlton was born August 6, 1927 in Omaha, Texas to William Bennie and Mary Elizabeth Tucker Charlton. He passed away February 13, 2016 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.
Mr. Charlton attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. He served in the Army Air Corps in WWII before starting his career. He worked in and retired from the construction industry. He retired from CA Hackett. He loved to hunt, fish, garden, and camp. He enjoyed reading, spending time with family and friends, and being a jokester.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Bennie and Mary Charlton; and one sister, Georgia Charlton Hammonds. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Joyce Denny Charlton; one son, Danny Charlton and wife Ellen of Plano; one daughter, Pennie Charlton Hitchcock and husband Rocky of Omaha; two sisters, Meryle Eaves of Omaha, and Mary Lee Hachmeister of Dallas; Grandchildren Holly Hitchcock and fiancé Cody Penny of Omaha, Jesse Hitchcock of Linden, Kristy Green of Plano, and Jamie McGimpsey of Neah Bay, Washington; great-grandchildren, Jade, Derek, and Isaiah Hitchcock of Linden, and Justin Brown of Plano; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Naples Public Library.
