Frances Lynn Carpenter, age 78, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Monday, September 5, 2016 in a Tyler, Texas hospital. Frances was born May 6, 1938, in Miami, Arizona to Robert William Myrtle and Jessie Pegues Myrtle.

Frances was a member of First Baptist Church in Omaha, Texas and attended the Berean Sunday School Class. She graduated Paul Pewitt High School, and then attended Northeast Texas Community College and East Texas State University where she gained her degree as a Social Worker. In 1999, she was named an Alumni Ambassador from East Texas State University for her work as a social worker and for training social work intern students from the university. Frances was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She devoted her life to helping others.

Frances was preceded in death by one son, Jeff Carpenter; and one great-grandson, Branden Lovelace.

Survivors include one son, Jay Carpenter, Jr. of Omaha; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Lois Myrtle of Omaha; three grandchildren, Destiney Carpenter, Dylan Carpenter, and Logan Carpenter; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Carpenter, Aubrey Carpenter, and Avery Carpenter; two nephews, Todd Myrtle and Toby Myrtle; one niece, Dena Teal; and numerous other relatives.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Omaha with Rev. Keith Lauter officiating. Interment will follow at Omaha Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the church, prior to the funeral.
