Fred Bowen, Jr., age 77, of Benton, Louisiana, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Fred was born March 13, 1947, in Shreveport, to Fred Bowen, Sr. and Edrie Cathey Bowen.

Fred was a 1965 graduate of Woodlawn High School.  He then owned and operated Bowen's Grocery in Shreveport for many years.  He then owned and operated Fremar Distributing chainsaw company before going to work for Stihl Southwest where he finally retired.  Fred loved music, especially old country music. He also collected guitars.  In his younger years, Fred enjoyed coaching youth football and squirrel hunting.  He also enjoyed tinkering on old cars and watching Nascar.  Fred was known for his grilling and his witty sense of humor.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Ed Bowen.

Survivors include his wife, Pam Bowen, of Benton; one son James Bowen and wife Jeri of Shreveport; two daughters, Cathey Bowen and partner Dawn King of Shreveport, and Heather Raibourn and husband Kevin of Longview; five grandchildren, Bryant Bowen, Kathryn Bowen, Nick Bowen, Kalley Bowen, and Sofie Raibourn; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas with Rev. Keith Lauter officiating.  Interment will follow at Omaha Cemetery in Omaha, Texas.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
