Gary Wayne Simpson, age 86, of Naples, Texas, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 in Longview, Texas. Gary was born December 27, 1935, in Omaha, Texas, to James Maurice Simpson and Montie Evelyn Talley Simpson.

Gary was a member of First Baptist Church in Naples.  He retired from Lone Star Steel where he was a foreman in the shipping department.  He also managed Ace Hardware and worked at Magnum Pipe after retirement.  Gary was a former Assistant Chief with the Naples Volunteer Fire Department.  He was also a former little league baseball coach and boy scout leader.  Gary loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He enjoyed traveling in his RV and spending time with his family.  Gary also loved the Dallas Cowboys.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; one son-in-law, Harold Berkley; and two brothers-in-law, Arthur Guy Womack and Doug Robinson.

Survivors include the love of his life, wife of nearly 65 years, Betty Simpson of Naples; one son and daughter-in-law, Perry and Melissa Simpson of Harleton, Texas; one daughter, Lea Ann Berkley of Naples; two sisters, Gail Womack of Marietta, Texas and Sue Robinson of Longview, Texas; three grandchildren, Tony Cook and wife Charlotte, Ryan Baker, and Christopher Simpson and wife Heather; four great-grandchildren, Kylee Cook, Hunter Cook, Layton Simpson, and Jensen Simpson; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples.  Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Concord Cemetery in Omaha, Texas with Rev. Nolan Richey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Concord Cemetery Association or to Omaha Cares.
