Gayland Lindsay Martin, age 68, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 in Omaha. Gayland was born March 20, 1949 in Naples, Texas to Alfie Durwood and Lois Esther Lindsay Martin.

Gayland retired from Red River Army Depot where he was a hydraulic mechanic. He was currently employed with Cox Logistics in Lone Star, Texas. Gayland was a United States Marine Corps veteran having served in the Vietnam War. After being discharged from the Corps, he joined the United States National Guard. After 20 years in the National Guard, he retired as a Captain. Gayland was a Baptist. He was a member of the VFW Post 1890, and he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and animals.

Gayland was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Eyvonne Waldrum.

Surviving family members include two daughters and one son-in-law, Tarji Jennings of Omaha and Sandra and Robert Jones of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Casandra Martin of Leary, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Doyce and Linda Martin of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and Marlin and Karen Martin of Naples, Texas; nine grandchildren, Alex Jennings, Kip Jennings, Zack Jennings, Felicity Martin, Matthew Martin, Lyeigha Martin, Tessa Martin, Lane Martin, and Stormy Jones; five great-grandchildren, Raelynn Jennings, Rustin Jennings, Owen Schoppe, Tayland Parker, and Sapphire Martin; long-time best friend Kay Rook; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel in Naples. Interment will follow at Omaha Cemetery in Omaha.
