Obituary

William Eugene 'Gene" Hall, age 87, of Cookville, Texas passed away peacefully Monday, September 4, 2017, at his home, with his family by his side. Gene was born April 27, 1930, in Marietta, Texas.  His parents were John H. Hall and Lena Davis Hall.

Gene was a member at First Baptist Church in Cookville where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a Master Mason of the East Dallas Lodge No. 1200 in Dallas, Texas. Gene spent most of his adult life in the Dallas area. He retired from the Dallas Police Department after 26 years of service. After retirement, he moved back to his hometown area of Cookville to become a cattle rancher. Gene enjoyed tending to his cattle, fishing, and reading.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Lena B. Hall Huffman and John H. Hall; and one sister, Gladys Vivian McCrummen.

Surviving family members include his loving wife of 68 years, Betty B. Hall of Cookville; one son, William Eugene Hall, Jr. of Cookville, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Michael Jones of West Jordan, Utah; five grandchildren, Matthew Hall, Emily Hall, Christine Foster, Shelley West, and Melinda Nelson; seven great-grandchildren; special aunt, Pearle Davis of Naples; brother-in-law, Jim Doss of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Gene will surely be missed by family and friends.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Harrison Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Dickard officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marietta. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
