Gloria June Norwood, age 77, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Gloria was born June 24, 1940 in Naples, Texas to Milton Hugh Hampton and Murrel Moreland Hampton.
Gloria was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Naples. She graduated from Paul Pewitt High School in 1958, and then attended North Texas State College. She then attended Texarkana College to obtain her cosmetology license. Gloria worked as a hairdresser for many years, and she also did a lot of drafting work. She was a member of the Humane Society of the United States, PAWS (people helping animals), and the National Organization of Parents of Murdered Children. She enjoyed painting and gardening, and Gloria loved all animals.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Syd Norwood; one brother Kenneth Hampton; one sister, Nancy Morris Heard; and one nephew, Milton Morris.
Survivors include one uncle and two aunts, Coy and Sarah Moreland of Omaha and Mary Walker of Colleyville, Texas; two nephews, Michael Morris of Denton, Texas, and Damon Hampton of Texarkana, Texas; two nieces, Mona Johnson of Naples, and Kendra Hampton of Dallas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Harrison Funeral Chapel in Naples with Rev. Jay Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Naples Cemetery in Naples. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service.
