Obituary

H. Wayne Smith, of Naples, Texas, died May 1, 2019, after a long battle with Alzheimer's and related illness. He was born July 18, 1938 in New Boston, Texas, and made his home in Naples from 1965.

Smith, both of Naples; his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Jane Smith of Garland, Texas; his sister-in-law, Tommie Lynch of Texarkana, and numerous family and friends.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Naples.

He began his banking association in 1957 at the age of 18 with the Industrial National Bank of Dallas. Wayne came to The Morris County National Bank in Naples in 1965 after working with the Industrial National Bank of Dallas for 8 years.  He was promoted to President, CEO, and Secretary to the Board of Directors of The Morris County National Bank in 1968, and remained in that capacity until his retirement in 2002.  Even retired, he continued to be associated with The Morris County National Bank as a member of the Board of Directors until January 2016.
