Obituary

James Milton Carpenter, age 87, of Naples, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017, at his home. James was born January 14, 1930 in Omaha, Texas to James W. Carpenter and Blanche Lamonte Wellborn Carpenter.

James was a member at Daniels Chapel Congregational Methodist Church in Naples. He retired from Red River Army Depot where he was an ammunition supervisor. He was a United States Army Veteran. James was a member of the National Rifle Association. He loved hunting. He was a die-hard Paul Pewitt Brahmas fan for many years. He was a member of the Naples Boots and Saddle Club and the Naples Watermelon Festival.

James was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; and three sisters.

Surviving family members include his wife of 60 years, Mary Carpenter of Naples; one daughter, Sheri Russell of Naples; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dane and Suzanne Carpenter of Longview, and David and Julie Carpenter of Omaha; four grandchildren, Cody Carpenter and wife Megan, Nikki Carpenter, Reagan Carpenter, and Bradley Carpenter; one great-granddaughter, Sadie Carpenter; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Daniels Chapel Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Tim Anderson, Bro. Ricky Knight, and Bro. Kenneth Davis officiating.  Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery in Omaha.
