James Alan Hawkins, age 60, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018, in Marietta, Texas. James was born February 5, 1958 in Naples, Texas, to Howard Milton Hawkins and Doris Wilson Hawkins.

James was a 1976 graduate of Paul Pewitt High School. He also graduated from East Texas State University with degrees in History and English. James was retired from CFAN in San Marcos, Texas, where he was an autoclave operator for 21 years. An avid Texas Longhorn fan, James also enjoyed turkey hunting and loved grilling and trying new recipes on his grill. James took pride in his gardening and landscaping and loved spending time with his family.

James was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Nelda Jean Hawkins; brother-in-law, Bobby Jones; father-in-law, Curtis Jones; and mother-in-law, Dalene (Jones) Duncan.

James is survived by his wife of 39 years, Brenda Jones Hawkins; son Richard Alan Hawkins of Marietta; brother and sister-in-law, Ennis and Kay Hawkins of Huntsville, Texas; sister, Virginia James of Omaha; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bobby Abston of Naples; sister-in-law, Myra Jones of Katy, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In honoring James' request, no memorial services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be made to the Pewitt Education Foundation, P.O. Box 1106, Omaha, TX 75571, or a charity of your choice.
