James Blanton Reeves, age 68, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at his home. James was born September 16, 1949 in Thomaston, Georgia to Jerry Lewis Reeves and Dorothy Lorraine Ragan Reeves.
James attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Omaha. He retired from Century Link and GTE working in the telecommunications department. James served in the United States Army Reserves Airborne Unit. Throughout his career, James moved all over the United States, and was always involved in the community where he lived. He served on the school board in Thomaston, Georgia, and helped coach little league baseball. He was also a member of the Thomaston Rotary Club. He was chairman of the board of deacons in Pembroke, Georgia, and in Burns, Oregon. James was nominated as Alaska Man of the Year through GTE. He was also involved in the mortuary preparation of deceased bodies while in Alaska. He was a member of the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce in Washington. James enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, raising worms, cutting firewood, building trailers, and raising rabbits. James was also a licensed electrician.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Gerald Reeves.
Surviving family members include his wife, Elaine Reeves of Omaha, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, James M. and JoAnn Reeves of San Antonio, Texas and Steven Reeves and Patricia Houlditch of Omaha, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, April and Michael Wolanek of Arlington, Washington; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Cheryl Reeves of Lenoir, North Carolina; one aunt, Barbara York of Thomaston, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Zachary Reeves, Nathan Wolanek, Joshua Wolanek, Micah Wolanek, Monique Reeves, Elias Reeves, and Ethan Cloud; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bryan Peck and Bro. Jerry Reeves officiating.
