On December 3, 2020 the heavens received a new voice to their choir.  Lola Jean Vaught Hampton was born in Pittsburg, Texas on May 12, 1944. Her parents were Cecil Merle Vaught and Lola Beatrice Richards Vaught. She grew up in Omaha, Texas and spent many hours with her friend Sandy Rivers Weeks.  She was also known by Jeanne.  She graduated from Paul Pewitt High School in 1962.  She was a quiet person with many life-long friends.

Jean worked as a bookkeeper for Clarence W. Stevens most of her life.  She worked as church secretary for the Naples First United Methodist Church and was the bookkeeper for the First United Methodist Church at Omaha.

Jean was baptized at the age of twelve (12) years at the First United Methodist Church in Omaha, Texas.  She remained a faithful member to her church all of her life.

On November 15, 1969 she married Auvis Wayne Hampton.  In 1971 Jean and Auvis built a house on the farm she grew up on.  She graduated to her eternal home in this house.

Jean is survived by her husband of 51 years and 18 days.  They are the parents of two (2) sons.  Steven Lance Hampton and wife Amy and granddaughters Emily and Audrey of Omaha, Texas.  Spencer Landon Hampton and wife Sherry Dryden and grandchildren Dustin, Heather and Austin Dryden of Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  She is also survived by many cousins that loved her dearly and thought she was the rock of the family.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Beatrice Vaught, and a twin brother Cecil Merle Vaught died at birth.  Also, a granddaughter Kara Sass.

A graveside service will be held at Concord Cemetery in Omaha, Texas on December 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at Harrison Funeral Home Sunday December 6, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Jean's name was on the prayer list of many churches.  She said many times that prayer has sustained her through her bout with cancer.  God did answer your prayers, because they benefited her and her family.  Thank you to everyone for all of your kindness to our family.
