William Jerry Derrick, 76, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015, at a Tyler, Texas hospital. Jerry was born September 2, 1938, outside of Omaha, Texas, to James Nolan Derrick and Jocie Cochran Derrick. He spent most of his life working on Broseco Ranch, and then went to work for the City of Omaha. He was a member at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Jerry was a member of the Omaha Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as assistant chief for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he also enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ed Derrick; and one brother-in-law, Donny Ebarb.
Surviving family members include his wife of 52 years, Jeanette Derrick of Omaha; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Brad Derrick of Naples, and Clint and Brandi Derrick of Naples; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Bud McCollum of Omaha; one sister, Nancy Ebarb of Bossier City, Louisiana; ten grandchildren, Ashley Gillispie, Katie Hicks, Christina Brown, Deidra Hooton, Dillan Derrick, Emily Braddock, Zachary Alsup, Lee McCollum, Randa McCollum, and Brady McCollum; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the funeral home.
Funeral services are planned for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Doye Wilbanks and Bro. Dwaine Higgins officiating. Interment will follow at Omaha Cemetery in Omaha.
