Jesse Bentley Wright, passed away Wednesday October 14th, 2026, in Tyler, Texas.
He was born in Omaha, Texas on August 5th, 1944 to Bentley and Lucille Wright. Jesse had one older brother, Glenn.
Jesse was a lover of people. He was among the most gentle, kind, and caring people this world has ever known. He was a compassionate, friendly man who never met a stranger. He loved his family. He loved his church. He loved his neighbor.
He was a Navy Veteran who served and loved his country. He retired from many years as Laboratory Manager at Titus Regional Medical Center. Jesse loved sports and outdoors. He particularly loved baseball, or any sport his grandchildren played. He loved wildlife and fishing. He loved to plant a garden full of purple hull peas. He loved trees, and he loved flowers. Specifically flowers for pollinating insects. Jesse loved bee-keeping and was widely known as the “honey man” to many across the country
.Jesse probably gave away more honey in his life than he sold. He was a hard worker who took care of the millions of “his girls” in Boggy Creek Honey Farm bee hives. The sting of a honey- bee or the Texas sun seemed to have little to no effect on him.
Most of all, and above all, Jesse was a lover of Jesus. His love for Jesus Christ shaped and influenced every aspect of his life and transformed him into who he was. He was a willing and wanting servant in the Lord’s church, a true deacon, and a true witness. He was a true man of meekness, humility. He was an example of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control. He also served as an active Gideon, and president of the Concord Cemetery Committee for many years.
The life he lived and the way he loved was a result of his faith in Jesus, due the life Jesus gave Jesse, and the way Jesus loved Jesse. His prayer for you, would be for you to know Jesus too.
Jesse is survived by his precious wife of 2 years, Linda Nettles Wright, his two daughters and son-in-laws, Michael and Tracy Jarvis of Omaha, Texas, Michael and Christy Mershawn of Rockwall, Texas, grandchildren, Donavan and Lauren Jarvis, Megan and Trenton Trotter, Mikey Mershawn, McKenna Mershawn, and Ella Mershawn, and four great grandchildren, Bo and Bentleigh Jarvis, Evelyn and Jarvis Trotter, and other relatives and a great number of friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Brenda Joyce Wright, brother Glenn Wright, and his parents Bentley and Lucille Wright.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2026, at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas.
