Obituary

Jimmy Ray "Jim" Birdsong, age 66, of Naples, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at his home.  Jim was born July 24, 1953 in Dallas, Texas to John Henry Birdsong and Juanita Doris York Birdsong.

Jim was the manager of the parts department at Pilgrim's Pride in Mt. Pleasant.  He loved electronics and gadgetry.  Jim enjoyed fishing and shooting pool.  He collected baseball caps and he was a huge Star Trek Fan.  Jim also enjoyed watching the Carl Sagan "The Cosmos" show and the Dallas Cowboys.  His favorite foods were cashews, Pittsburg Hot Links, and bologna sandwiches.  Jim loved playing slot machines, smoking cigarettes, and drinking Dr. Pepper.  More than anything else, Jim loved spending time with his family.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and one granddaughter, Miranda Gartman.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joyce Birdsong of Naples; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Cyndi and Victor Wells of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Jaime and Brandon Singletary of Omaha, Texas; Jessica and Chris Heard of Naples, and Sheila Conyers of Orlando, Florida; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kristina Fulgham of Frisco, Texas; one brother, Johnny Birdsong of Eustace, Texas; his fur-baby, Zada; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2020 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples with Bro. Yanckton Hatten and Bro. Bryan Peck officiating.  The family wishes to let everyone know that this is a celebration and not a formal occasion.  Bright colors and smiling faces will be welcomed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chambers Hospice, 201 West 20 th Street, Ste. #102, Mt. Pleasant, TX 75455.
