James Robert "Jim" Long, age 81, of Hayesville, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at his home. Jim was born February 17, 1944, in Decatur, Michigan, to James Otho Long and Diccie Melvina Vinson Long.

Jim was a United State Air Force veteran. He was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta, Texas, where he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Upon moving to North Carolina, he attended Truett Memorial First Baptist Church in Hayesville, where he served in those same capacities. Jim was a retired truck driver. In his free time, Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lelah Simmerman; and one step-son, Michael Burke.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Marge" Long of Hayesville; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Julie Long of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Jeff and Rosie Long of Austin, Texas; one step-daughter, Jeanette Crawford of Hayesville; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Lavon Long of Batesville, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marietta, Texas, with Dr. Chas Carlisle officiating.
