John Paul Jones, Jr., age 72, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  John Paul was born September 16, 1949, in Texarkana, Arkansas to John Paul Jones, Sr. and Mattie Bess Poer Jones.

John Paul was a retired tug boat captain.  He formerly lived in Colorado and worked at a resort.  John Paul was a Christian. He was a member of the Naples Chamber of Commerce. John Paul loved a good story, a good glass of wine, and hanging out with his friends.

John Paul was preceded in death by his parents, John Paul Jones, Sr. and Bess Jones; and one brother, Allen Yates Jones.

Survivors include one sister, Janet J. McCabe of New Boston, Texas; one nephew, John Conor McCabe of Austin, Texas; one niece, Margaret Marie McCabe of Commerce, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home, Naples, Texas.
