Obituary

Johnny Wayne Keener, age 69, of Naples, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at his home. Johnny was born at home in Marietta, Texas on the snowy day of March 15, 1947 to Paul Shaddix Keener and Oleta Faye Wall Keener.

Johnny accepted Christ and was baptized in 2016. He was a member at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta. Johnny was a sergeant in the United States Army during Vietnam. Upon being discharged from the Army, he went to work at Red River Army Depot, where he became a leader. Johnny was a member of the volunteer ambulance service in Naples for years. He loved auctions and garage sales. He also enjoyed watching westerns and wrestling on TV. Johnny enjoyed going on vacation, with his favorite place to vacation being Branson. He also enjoyed gardening and doing yard work.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, and one beloved niece, Rachel Sonnier Leach.

Surviving family members include his wife of 45 years, Candace Lummus Keener of Naples; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Loye Adams, III of Naples; one son, Steven Keener of Marietta; one sister and brother-in-law, Paula and George Hughes of Marietta; two grandchildren, Loye Adams, IV of Marietta and Harper Adams of Naples; three great-grandchildren, Adisen Adams of Mt. Pleasant, Rosalie Brown of Marietta, and Cory Urbina, Jr. of Naples; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Harrison Funeral Chapel in Naples, with Bro. Chas Carlisle officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marietta.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice.
