Joyce Laverne Heard, age 70, of Naples, Texas, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in Tyler, Texas. Joyce was born January 25, 1949 in Simms, Texas to William Carl May and Lottie Lee Easttam May.

Joyce was a faithful member at Liberty Baptist Church in Naples.  She retired from Red River Army Depot where she worked in computer assembly. Upon retirement, Joyce worked at Shaw's Hardware in Naples and also became the secretary for the City of Naples. When not working, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and working in her yard.  Joyce had a caring heart for the people around her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Bill May, Leroy May, Delbert May, Loyd May, and Hubert May; and two sisters, Era Orr and Vera Daniel.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Marty and Shellie Heard of Omaha, Texas and Randall Heard and Jennifer Tucker of Omaha; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Jesse and Nancy May of Mt. Pleasant, and John May of Simms; two sisters, Lou Ella Currey of Naples and Emma Lee Burns of Simms; two grandchildren, Taylor Heard of Nashville, Tennessee and Trent Heard of Omaha; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Liberty Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at Wheatville Cemetery in Naples.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church in Naples.
