Juanita McCord, age 83, of Marietta, Texas, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Juanita was born May 14, 1934 in Marietta, Texas to Louis Oliver Barnes and Ida Lou Boddie Barnes.

Juanita was a life-long member at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta. She retired from Marietta school, where she was the librarian. Juanita enjoyed working in her flowerbeds, gardening, and birds.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest McCord in 2016; her parents; two sons, David McCord and Jimmy McCord; four brothers, Arvie Barnes, Arlen Barnes, Jack Barnes, and C.W. Barnes.

Survivors include one son, Dwayne McCord of Marietta; two grandchildren, Matthew McCord and wife Marla, and Lacey Applewhite and husband Dalton; four great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta with Dr. Chas Carlisle officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marietta.

In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to American Alzheimer's Association.
