Karen Ruth Richey, age 70, of New Boston, Texas, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024 at her home. Karen was born September 23, 1954 in Naples, Texas to John Hugh Ellis and Era Jane Wommack Ellis.

Karen was a member of First Baptist Church in New Boston.  She was a teacher for the visually impaired through Region VIII Service Center.  Karen was an officer for Walk to Emmaus.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and gardening.  She also enjoyed cooking and sewing.  Karen was known as a master craftsman and could create anything.  She loved her chickens and enjoyed gathering eggs.  Karen loved her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Tommy Richey of New Boston; one daughter and son-in-law, Kiersten and Emil Rapstine of Dallas, Texas; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Shane Richey of Springdale, Arkansas and Jon and Lindsey Richey of Springdale; one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Herschel White of Keller, Texas; seven grandchildren, Margot Rapstine, Ogden Rapstine, Murry Richey, Arlo Richey, Adeline Richey, Annabel Richey, and Whitt Richey; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2024 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at First Baptist Church in New Boston with Bro. Rick Rothwell and Rev. Nolan Richey officiating.  Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery in Omaha, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church New Boston Choir Fund or to Concord Cemetery Association.
