Robert Kendyle Buchanan, age 83, of Naples, Texas, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  Kendyle was born November 9, 1936 to Robert Bruce Buchanan and Emma Frances Mathis Buchanan.

Kendyle was a member of the Church of Christ in Naples.  He was veteran of the United States Army National Guard 49 ^th Armored Division.  Kendyle retired from SWEPCO where he was the area manager for Omaha/Cookville/Naples/Daingerfield.  He was a former member and past president of the Naples Lions Club, former member of the Naples Chamber of Commerce and Naples Economic Development Committee, former president, secretary, and Optimist of the Year with the Mt. Pleasant Optimist Club, and was named as an Outstanding Young Man of America in his younger years.  Kendyle loved his farm and raising horses and cattle.  He also loved tending to his flowers at home.  Kendyle was the chief cook for the Paul Pewitt Special Olympics Chili Fundraiser for many years.

Kendyle was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ray Buchanan and Otto Buchanan; and three sisters, Sally Hays, Altha Stephens, and Christine Cargil.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Anne Buchanan, of Naples; one sister, Sue Milliken of Dallas; nine nieces and nephews, Claire, Pat, Barbara, Jackie, Bobby, James, Danny, Cindy, and Johnny; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the Church of Christ in Naples with Phillip Kelley, Todd Ranes, and Steve Curtis officiating.  Interment will follow at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Naples Church of Christ Building Fund, Chambers Hospice, or the Beds of Hope Program at the Naples Church of Christ.
