Kenneth Edwin "Ken" Pearson, age 91, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022 in Linden, Texas. Kenneth was born July 21, 1930, in De Queen, Arkansas, to John T. Pearson and Ethel Perkins Pearson.

Ken lived a life of adventure and education. As a child and adult, he was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America. Ken was a De Queen High School graduate. After graduation, Ken attended Arkansas College and went on to join the United States Navy as a hospital corpsman at Mare Island Naval Hospital. During the Korean War, Ken served as a X-Ray Tech on the USS Haven hospital ship for four tours. Ken went on to further his education and graduated from Baylor University, earned a Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, and a Masters degree in Secondary Education from Westminster College in Salt Lake City. He utilized his education as a teacher and librarian for 25 years in Salt Lake City, an adjunct professor for the University of Utah College of Education, and as the head librarian for the Tarsus American School (Tarsus American Kollege) in Istanbul, Turkey. He also served as an associate missionary to New East Mission in Istanbul. Ken enjoyed to travel, spend time with family, gardening, photography, and just being around and conversating with people.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Colleen Crump Pearson; his parents; one sister, Janice Mayfield; and one brother, William Harold Pearson.

Survivors include one sister, Twila Thompson of De Queen; and one brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Carolyn Pearson of Mena, Arkansas; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home, Naples, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the Clyde and Twila Thompson Trust for the Sevier County ARC.
