Surrounded by family, Larry Bill Richey was peacefully called to his heavenly home on May 27, 2026.

Larry was born on November 17, 1938, in Omaha, Texas, to Bill and Josephine Richey. He was the oldest of seven children and shared a close bond with his siblings throughout his life. Family was always at the center of Larry's world, and he treasured the relationships and memories they built together.

Larry grew up in Omaha and graduated from Paul Pewitt High School in 1957. He later attended Texarkana Junior College and graduated from Stephen F. Austin College in 1962. He went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education from North Texas State.

Larry taught secondary math in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD until 1969. At that time, he began a new chapter driving for Trailways and then Greyhound Bus Lines, where he remained until his retirement in 2006.

Larry married the love of his life, Betty Ann Freeman of Hughes Springs, in 1959. On May 23rd, they celebrated 67 years of marriage together. They raised their family in Hurst, Texas, before eventually returning home to Omaha in 2004.

Larry enjoyed helping his family—or anyone who needed a helping hand. He treasured time spent with family and friends. He and Betty were blessed with a close circle of lifelong friends for over 60 years, sharing countless memories, milestones, and seasons of life together. Their friendship became an extension of family.

He loved working in his yard and was known for putting up beautiful Christmas decorations, beginning in October each year, and making sure all his reindeer were in perfect working order.

Larry loved his Lord and was a faithful member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church, always looking forward to every opportunity to attend.

Larry found great joy in his roles as husband, Dad, Granddad, brother, and uncle, cherishing every opportunity to be with those he loved. He was affectionately known as "DaDa" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he treasured the moments shared with family. He also loved being "Uncle Larry" to his many nieces and nephews and valued every gathering, visit, and memory made together.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Rodney Richey and Donald Richey, and sister-in-law Karen Ellis Richey.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Richey; his children, Lisa Dunn of Hurst, and Lance Richey and wife Medea of Coppell; grandchildren Amanda Campbell and husband Reese of Nacogdoches, Jack Booker of Dallas, and Alexis Booker of Los Angeles, California; great-grandchildren Ella, Addison, Jett, and Callum Campbell of Nacogdoches; sisters Janice Richey of Omaha and Sue Gattis of Winnsboro; brothers Tommy Richey of New Boston and Nolan Richey and wife Patricia of Omaha; sisters-in-law, Charmel Richey of Quitman and Joyce Richey of Union Grove; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Chambers Home Health & Hospice and the wonderful nurses, caregivers, and staff who cared for Larry with such kindness, compassion, and dignity. Your love and support meant more to our family than words can express.

A remembrance service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Concord Missionary Baptist Church, 260 County Road 3306, Omaha, Texas 75571. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m.
