Elmer Lawrence Matthews, age 65, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Monday, September 30, 2019 in Omaha. Lawrence was born April 29, 1954 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Harvey Edmon Matthews and Climmie Ellias Neeley Matthews.

Lawrence was a member at Bar Nun Cowboy Ministries in Omaha.  In his earlier years, Lawrence was a heavy equipment operator at the Monticello mines.  He recently retired from the City of Naples.  Lawrence enjoyed sharing scripture and telling jokes.  He loved children.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Matthews; his father; two brothers, Edwin Matthews and Ray Matthews; and one sister, Veronica Matthews.

Survivors include his mother, Climmie Matthews; one son, Dusty Matthews; one daughter, Stacey Matthews; three step-daughters, Melissa Coleman, Shelly Childers, and Stephanie Alaimo; one brother, Evert Matthews; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rachael and Kent Stacks, Elleda and Dale Hall, and Cecelia and John Joplin; several grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Cornett Cemetery in Naples with Bro. Tony Deornellis and Bro. Dwaine Higgins officiating.  Lawrence's body will lie in state at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
