Charles Leonard Kennedy, age 91, of Naples, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at his home. Mr. Kennedy was born April 5, 1923, in Naples, Texas, to Charlie B. and Florizell Vaughan Kennedy.
Mr. Kennedy was a United States Army Veteran, having served during WWII. He retired from Red River Army Depot. Leonard was a member at Rocky Point Congregational Methodist Church.
Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Kennedy, in October of 2014; his parents; two brothers, Bill Kennedy and James W. Kennedy; and one sister, Mildred Belyeu.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Judy Kennedy of Daingerfield, Texas; one daughter, Barbara Waller of Texarkana, Arkansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Maxine Kennedy of Garland, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy John and Nina Hicks of Naples; brother-in-law, Roy Dunham of Naples; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2015, at Harrison Funeral Chapel in Naples, Texas, with Rev. Leon McDowell and Rev. B.J. Hooker officiating. Interment will follow at Creekmore Cemetery in Naples.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or to the church of your choice.
