Lois Jean Shaddix, age 83, of Marietta, Texas, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024, at her home.  Lois was born May 3, 1941, in Montrose, Colorado, to Elbert Faye Muzzy and Esther Virginia Barnes Muzzy.

Lois was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta where she was very active.  She was a homemaker.  Lois served on the Marietta City Council for many years and also served as the Mayor of Marietta.  She enjoyed gardening and yardwork.  She was very creative and enjoyed sewing and crocheting.  Lois loved her family deeply.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Shaddix; her parents; and four brothers, Edward Muzzy, Bob Muzzy, Richard Muzzy, and Harold Kelso.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Denise Shaddix of Marietta, Donnie and Lori Shaddix of Omaha, Texas, and Darren and Jessica Shaddix of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Karen Kelso of Olathe, Colorado; one sister, Virginia Altberg of Danbury, Connecticut; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta with Dr. Chas Carlisle officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church, prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oak Ridge Cemetery Association.
